Radiantly healthy skin, hair, feet, hands, eyes, and nails. Commercial beauty products make this promise every day and live up to it with varying degrees of success. Stephanie Tourles offers a better solution to everyone frustrated with the endless cycle of expensive, synthetic, famous-name cosmetics that often fall short of expectations. Take control of beauty treatments with homemade products that use safe, nourishing ingredients to pamper the body and soothe the senses.

Tourles, a licensed esthetician, herbalist, and aromatherapist, has developed 175 recipes that are fun, simple, and immensely satisfying to make in home kitchens. Her natural beauty treatments deliver the results promised by department store brands — skin, hair, and nails that glow with vitality and inner wellness. Lotions, scrubs, toners, balms, and masks polish and balance the skin, soothe current problems, and prevent future ones. Shampoos, rinses, and conditioners tone the scalp, boost highlights, and leave hair soft and shiny. The book's whole-body coverage also includes recipes for hand and footcare, nail treatments, shaving cream, and even popular spa treatments such as microdermabrasion exfoliants, detox and cellulite soaks, ayurvedic oils, and herbal cold salves. Most important, there is never any doubt about the purity of these ingredients!

Each formula is clearly presented in recipe style, with notes on prep time, storage, and uses. Many products can be customized according to personal needs, whim, or mood, and they all use readily available, natural ingredients. Organic Body Care Recipes is a natural treasure for every body.

This book contains more than 200 recipes and step-by-step techniques used by the author, holistic nutritionist Julie Gabriel (THE GREEN BEAUTY GUIDE) to create her own organic skincare line, Petite Marie Organics (petitemarieorganics.com)

Practical, straightforward, and fun, these recipes are equally suitable for green beauty enthusiasts as well as professional beauty practitioners.

You can pamper yourself head to toe with luxurious hair masks, deep cleansing home facials, aromatic massage oils, nourishing body lotions, and age-rewinding moisturizers in the most natural, luxuriously green way!

Here is what our reviewers say:

"Green Beauty Recipes" is a timely book since many of us are "going green." We no longer want to use harmful chemicals or accept using animals for testing products. Using products that can be found in our own home, with the addition of essential oils or natural preservatives, will not only nourish our body, but help keep our planet clean. I commend Julie Gabriel on making this book available to us and I encourage everyone to consider having "Green Beauty."

--Irene Watson, Reader Views

Green Beauty Recipes is the second book by author Julie Gabriel. An extension of her first book, The Green Beauty Guide, Green Beauty Recipes is an indispensable collection of not only recipes, but also instructions, explanations and helpful hints for creating your own collection of skin care, hair care and body care products. Julie gives everyone the confidence to get in the kitchen and create their own beauty! Perfect as a gift for just about any woman.

We love this book and read every word cover to cover. How we wish it had images of some of the finished recipes, however. It's fun to create products and get that feeling of accomplishment that goes along with it. It's a book that won't hide on our bookshelf because we'll be too busy finding recipes that work best with our skin. It has a top spot on our holiday gift list this year.

Much of the beauty advice of the 1920s and 1930s is relevant today, probably more so as we are now looking for and using more and more natural ingredients and less chemical-based compounds.

The 1920s was an era of change for women as they became more liberated and makeup became more dramatic and colorful with women using darker skin toned face powders.

As the 1930s approached another era of complexions emerged and that was a white and waxen look with a touch of pink. The mid 30s on women preferred ivory in varying tones of pink, light blue and orange cream. Towards the end of the 30s colors that were as natural as possible with a bright pink undertone were the favorite for many women.

The latter part of the 30s bought more colors for women to choose from and was the start of the use of women using certain colors of eye shadow that was dependent on their hair color and time of day.

Here is some of what you will find in this book?
What makeup was used and how the 1920s and 30s women achieved the look of the day.
What relaxation and exercise can do for your body.
How to care for and repair your skin using ingredients that are found at home.
How to get a pair of sparkling eyes, a glorious head of hair and sparkling eyes.
Many ways you can make your own cosmetics and make-up with costing a fortune.

If you love the fashion and adore the style, then turn back time with a few 1920s and 1930s makeup and beauty tips.
A necessary resource for anyone interested in alternative approaches to healing, this book contains more than 600 easy-to-follow recipes for essential oil treatments and aromatherapy.
