Nonwoven fibrous media with nanofibers havesignificant filtration applications in automotive, chemical, transportation, power generation andpharmaceutical/biological industries. Nanofibers havehigher capture efficiencies in comparison tomicrofibers in the submicron particle size range of100 - 500 nm because of smaller fiber diameter andincreased surface area of the fibers. Nanofibers arein the slip flow regime as a consequence of whichsteep increase in pressure drop is considerablyreduced due to slip effect. The economic benefits ofusing nanofiber filter media are improved filterperformance and compact filters.Electrospinning process was used to fabricate polymerand ceramic nanofibers. The electrospun polymernanofibers were added to the nonwoven fibrous mediato improve filter performance for air filtration. This improved filter performance was in consistentwith numerical modeling. This book describes theexperimental and modeling results of particle loadingon fibrous media and application of ceramicnanofibers for hot gas filtration applications.
The National Air Filtration Association (NAFA) has written the book on air filtration! Originally published in September 1993 with a second edition in 1996, the NAFA Guide to Air Filtration is the source of information about air filtration. This guide covers everything from the basic principles of filtration and the different types of filtration devices, to information about testing, specialized applications, and the role of filtration in Indoor Air Quality.

Written as a study guide or reference guide for air filtration professionals, this hard-back book, with over eighty tables, photos and illustrations, is the most comprehensive publication ever produced in the air filtration industry.

The manual is being used in conjunction with the NAFA Certified Air Filter Specialists (CAFS) program. The book is considered required reading for anyone wishing to become certified.

Coalescing filters are effective in removal of aerosols from gas and air streams in many industrial applications. Performance of filters is critically important to improve economy and reliability of process and to protect our environment and health. In coalescing filters captured liquid drains under the influence of gravity. The saturation or liquid hold-up in the filter constricts the flow, increases pressure drop, limits the filter life and increases cost of the process. Filter performance can be enhanced by improving liquid saturation and capture efficiency. To improve filter performance and study the effect of gravity; filter geometries are developed and tested in horizontal and vertical orientation by incorporating woven and nonwoven drainage structures with varying pore structures, basis weight, surface energy and material along with nanofibers in some cases. The drainage channels create a path of lower resistance by allowing maximum flow through the drainage channels which reduces saturation and pressure drop and improves filter performance and drainage. Experimental results, analysis and multiphase modeling of filter media with drainage channels are described in this book.
The need for clean air has probably never been greater. Many industrial employees need to avoid exposure to airborne particulates, while certain industrial processes demand clean air of exceptional quality. Medical and biological fields rely on sterile air, while filtration can improve air quality in offices, homes and all types of transport.

Filters act in a variety of complex and subtle ways. Each chapter introduces its subject matter simply, before tackling the problem in greater depth. The book therefore provides an excellent basis for detailed study, but is also invaluable to anyone needing an overview of the subject.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was introduced on December 2, 1970 by President Richard Nixon. The agency is charged with protecting human health and the environment, by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress.

The EPA's struggle to protect health and the environment is seen through each of its official publications. These publications outline new policies, detail problems with enforcing laws, document the need for new legislation, and describe new tactics to use to solve these issues. This collection of publications ranges from historic documents to reports released in the new millennium, and features works like: Bicycle for a Better Environment, Health Effects of Increasing Sulfur Oxides Emissions Draft, and Women and Environmental Health.
